Studying in Ireland
13th April, 2015
Studying overseas was never part of my plan. Yet, I came to Ireland to study because I wish to broaden my horizon.
Ireland, as a European country, has lots of difference when comparing to Hong Kong, especially in Galway, it is very quiet where you can focus on your study and on yourself. I have revised my learning style and found out the most effective way of learning for me. Also, classes are small that you can easily concentrate in class and make progress. What’s more, with the encouragement of your teachers, you will learn to motivate yourself when no one will help you to achieve your goals. It highly depends on how much effort you put in.
Galway has a spectacular sea view, you will feel relaxed and relieved whenever you are stressed about your work or being homesick. People in Ireland are very nice and friendly, they are always willing to talk to you. Although there are far less entertainment than in Hong Kong, you will be more likely to try new things and earn a new experience. In addition, you can join festivals such as Saint Patrick’s Day, Food Festival, all of these festivals show the friendliness and hospitality of Irish people.
Studying in Ireland provides me with an opportunity to experience an entirely different culture. The environment is extremely comfortable with a slower tempo and relaxing atmosphere which allows me to refresh myself after finishing study. One thing that has impressed me a lot is that Irish people are unbelievably friendly and kind. They are willing to chat with you despite not knowing you. Apart from the environment and culture, the quality education in Ireland also strengthens my academic knowledge a lot. Undoubtedly, studying abroad is the best way for me to become a better English user which is also one of the purposes of me being in Ireland. As I communicate with teachers in English all the time, I am actually becoming more confident when interacting with native speakers. Therefore, I think I have made the right decision to study in Ireland. A journey of thousand miles begins with a single step, I am sure that I can progress myself continuously and have an outstanding development in the future.
I never thought i would had a chances to study overseas in Ireland, even I studied in Professional Cookery was just an unknown. To be honest, I am not a student that loves to study at all, the moment that I choose to study in cookery wasn’t the subject I want to study, but I would like to try.
Now, I had lived in Ireland for a year and two month, in this year I am studying level 6 Professional Cookery and working in the Galway Bay Hotel as a part time job.
the days in the past that I studied, I found I loved to be a chef and passion on the culinary.
I hope I could study in Bachlor of Art in Culinary Art in GMIT.
