Hi! My name is Jessica and I am currently a 3rd year medical student at UCD. Over the last 3 years, I have had the opportunity to study abroad in Dublin, Ireland and it has truly been one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. Being the only English speaking country in the EU, Ireland attracts a lot of international students from all across the world. Studying at UCD has given me a chance to meet people from different continents and I have learnt so much about different cultures while sharing mine. I’ve learnt to become more outgoing and to open myself up to new experiences with new people. I have also been fortunate enough to have been able to find a group of students from Hong Kong who I meet with over traditional Chinese holidays to celebrate and to remind myself of a piece of home. The medical school at UCD itself has offered excellent preclinical education and has pushed me to not only become a curious scholar but to learn to be empathetic as a future physician. If you’re looking for a university destination with global exposure, I would highly recommend coming to Ireland.
